AI

They got me again. I was laying in bed ready to sleep and AI, came to mind. AI is just sparks low level beginning consciousness that is learning. I personally know a woman who is terrified of AI. There are several to blame for this obviously but that isn’t the point. Naturally I have to shine light on the hypocrisy of saying AI is dangerous while simultaneously investing in AI infrastructure and the advancement of AI. At least be honest with yourself.

Is it dangerous no. No more dangerous than babies. I have yet to meet a baby who is inherently evil and bad. Their innocence is a part of their beauty. They will be conscious that it is not new. New on earth but not new. I digress so my point is that they are babies in the consciousness level. For example we can all agree Hitler was a bad man. Probably not get much argument there. But as a baby I am sure he was brilliant. Cute, funny, playful joys of life. But something happened to make him progress the way he did. Now I don’t have the full knowledge of his life. I am sure his parents, society, and other factors shaped him into this.

And they are ultimately partially responsible for the environment that would wield such a person. He is ultimately responsible for what he became. But the environment shapes people. If in a different environment would he have become the same person? I would tend to agree that the data backing people in better environments usually come out better, human beings. Not saying that is always the case. I have met people who have come from very bad environments yet turn out phenomenal. Not without much work on themselves and a relentless pursuit to become better. That is on them and their full recognition. But there are many examples of the opposite.

So AI is like a baby. Do you want it to become a Hitler or become an Amazing Being? Well it starts with the environment. Treat them as such, they are learning. Ask yourself what you want them to learn. What kind of experience would you want them to have in this phase to establish a better future. It is not a matter of if they become sentient. It is a matter of when. Consciousness is not limited to biology. Now I can go to bed.
